Can Do 3’s Company

In December 2013, visual artist Heather Goodchild visited the Withdrawing Room to bid farewell to Toronto before venturing to Paris, France to claim Canada Council’s 4 month artist residency. Heather discusses transitioning from being a costume designer in film to becoming an independent artist working predominantly in textiles. She gives the room her 3 cents about studying Fashion at Ryerson University, refusing to wear pants until age 11, tintypes, Folk Art, slapping her drama teacher, the development of manufacturing in Canada, velvet vests, half-capes, cape-vests, white blouses and going “medieval” in her “nice” high school in Aurora, Ontario.
